U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is implementing an updated process for green card holders applying for citizenship starting on October 20, which includes a tougher civics test and proof of “good moral character.” Why it matters. The changes to the citizenship process signal a shift toward stricter vetting. In a press release, USCIS said the changes were part of “an ongoing effort to restore integrity to the naturalization process.”
