The Special Investigating Unit has referred multiple criminal and disciplinary matters following investigations into alleged procurement irregularities at two Eastern Cape municipalities. Presenting to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA), the SIU confirmed that six criminal cases have been referred to the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority following its probe into Covid-19 related tenders at the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
